Spring is here and we are thrilled. The horses have a spring in their steps. Fresh grass is popping up from our September planting. Wanda, one of our white chickens is raising 4 new babies. Three hatched the same day (Moe, Larry and Curly.) And then two weeks later little Otis hatched! He’s small and keeping up with the others. It is a special thing to watch a Momma hen teach her babies how to scratch for seed. She is fiercely protective. If you get too close her feathers widen and she has been known to dispense some serious pecks on visitors. Soon they will be big enough to exit the coop and she will teach them to look for roots and grass and bugs to eat. Topaz our therapy cat is pretty fascinated with them. He also has been hunting and caring for the mouse population. Many a treat are left in the morning for the therapists. We hope you are well and finding the beauty of spring all around you.

Fall is here and we are hanging on to the last bits of summer. But to no avail as the leaves are starting to fall one by one and all of the stores are placing out the pumpkin flavored items. Soon it will be Sweater Weather! We just completed our September Soul Rest Day. It has been a change and transition without ministry horses. As we wait to see what God has in store for us, we have had several generous friends and neighbors come forward and offer to let us use their horses for our events. This week we had Maverick and Bullet who thoroughly enjoyed attention and chased us along the fence to be pet. And we had two minis Olaf and Elsa. It’s always fun to see anything mini. We look forward to the Open House and a full fall and winter.

OCTOBER 9,2023

Fall is always a reminder to “let go”, to make room for rest in the winter and new life in the spring. Letting go can feel differently for people. It can feel like grief because we weren’t ready for the change. It can feel like relief because what we were carrying was too heavy. It can feel like excitement because we are going on to a new adventure. All of it is an invitation to something different. If we can lean into that with God is can be a lovely thing even if it is hard as well. One thing we consistently see is people that come to Soul Rest have space and time to see what they need to let go of. Often times the space is what we need to even be able to identify what needs our attention. Some find this on a walk or painting or even sitting in the sun. They come one way and leave another. From stressed to relaxed. From anxious to peaceful. From overloaded to realizing it’s time to take care of themselves. At BHM, we are offering more of this space for clients to have time to just “be” and see what arrises. So consider coming to a shorter morning or full day. I promise you won’t regret it. We are even offering gift cards now so you can bless your spouse, friends or teammates with a day of rest. We look forward to hosting you.
